Branford’s Originals Spicy Crab and Shrimp Cakes

  • 1 lb fresh crab meat
  • 1 lb of shrimp
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 small clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped yellow pepper
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons tartar sauce
  • 1/4 of Branford’s Originals extreme hot sauce
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sweet butter
Rinse and pick over crab meat, discarding any pieces of shell or cartilage.
Try to leave lumps as large as possible.
Peel and rinse shrimp then steam, after cooked chop shrimp in cubes.
Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over low heat; slowly saute finely diced onion, green pepper, yellow pepper, red pepper, and garlic until tender.
Whisk egg in bowl; add tartar sauce and Branford‘s Originals extreme hot sauce.
Combine with sauteed vegetables and soft bread crumbs, mixing well.
Add the crab meat, shrimp, salt, pepper and form into loose patties; place on waxed paper-lined plate.
Refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until firm.  Place in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Serves 4.
